Ecology and Ethology continue to amaze me. I took a course on Ethology in graduate school followed by a course in Behavioral Ecology and it totally changed the way I look at the world. I think the BE course was the single best course I have ever taken. Seems that many people like to argue evolution theories without taking the time to understand the science that is already out there. It takes a LONG time to grasp what evolution is really all about but once you 'get it' it is pretty indisputable (in my opinion). Nice blog!

ReplyDeleteI agree with your explanation as to why some people challenge evolution. To complicate matters even more, often any ignorance held is fortified against elucidation by misinformation from the popular media, inappropriate politicizing of science and fear of repercussion from religious minded peers.
If people would just look at the evidence, they’d surely find ecology and ethology just as fascinating as you and I do.
